Family Pastor


The Family Pastor will provide leadership, direction and supervision for the development and coordination of discipleship-focused ministry to families, including children through high school students. Family ministry will also focus on equipping married couples and parents to fulfill the biblical plan for the family as we foster gospel-centered environments in the home, the community and the world.

All pastoral positions are informed by Ephesians 4:11-13.  Pastors are called to "...equip the saints for the work of service". What does that mean? A pastor’s duty is not merely to carry out a list of responsibilities but to make discipleship the leading value in the interactions he has with those inside and outside the church. In short, each pastor should be asking how he could help every person take his or her next step toward spiritual maturity and faithful service to Jesus.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Encourage and equip parents in their role as primary disciplers of their children.
  • Develop a team that is fully qualified to serve the Lord by serving one another.
  • Serve as the primary leader for our ministry to children and their families.
  • Drive Citadel Square Kid’s Ministry to match Citadel Square’s vision of life on life discipleship in the context of a biblical community with an all people’s mindset.
  • Create excellent environments for preschoolers and elementary children on Sunday morning by constant evaluation and systematic improvements.
  • Serve as the Sunday morning point person for the Kid’s Ministry.
  • Identify, invite, train, and empower volunteer leaders to be a part of Family Ministry.
  • Oversee all volunteers and any paid staff in each of these environments. This includes serving those volunteers through: scheduling, background checking, resourcing with curriculum, supplying and resources classrooms, training, and appreciating them to let them know they are valued.
  • Oversee the setup of the children’s areas. 
  • Coordinate Parent Commissioning Sundays.
  • Meet with key staff/volunteers on a regular basis to evaluate and improve the Kid’s Ministry.
  • Participate in staff meetings, creative ministry planning meetings, and leadership retreats to provide evaluation and feedback to your direct report and the elders.
  • Communicate with other children and student pastors to gain insight and develop ways to improve the effectiveness of the worship experience.
  • Oversee Middle & High School Ministry development through Young Life.
  • Oversee The Children’s Center and The Children’s Center Director.
  • Lead vision integration of TCC and Citadel Square’s Kid’s Ministry.
  • Develop a pre-marital care process for engaged couples at Citadel Square. 
  • Continue investing in the relationship with the Chinese Church as many of their families serve alongside us in Kid’s Ministry. Work with their leadership to learn how we can best equip parents in their congregation as well.

Personal Responsibilities

  • Maintain God ordained priorities in your life by putting Jesus Christ first, your spouse second, your children third and the ministry fourth.
  • Be a contributing member of Citadel Square by giving of your time, talents and finances to the mission of the church.
  • Be loyal to the vision and staff of Citadel Square and always protect the unity of the church.
  • Invest and invite the lost to know Jesus and come to Citadel Square Baptist Church.
